Addresses have been sent to everyone who registered. If you registered & did not get a list, but received the verification email, please respond to that ASAP, so we can sort out the problem.

The program I used in the past went to a pay-per-use service just last week. Then with the large chunks of people from the Pacific Northwest who signed up, and me wanting to spread them out, I made the lists myself, pulling the info from the survey. Over 120 names & addresses were sorted by area, age & who wanted international addresses & who didn’t. It is not going to be perfect. I tried to be as fair as possible, while still getting accurate addresses & even lists sent out to everyone. I have no doubt that we’ll run into a few snags (double sign ups, incorrect addresses, etc), but I ALSO have no doubt that this will be a LOT of fun for over 120 families.
It is with GREAT PLEASURE that I have done this for three years now. And an even greater pleasure that I have some families on my list that have done it all three years. I hope you’ll join us next year, too!
Frequently Asked Questions:
My name is on the list I got, is that okay?
Yep, just mail out valentines to everyone ELSE on your list.
What do we include in the envelope?
A valentine(s) & a letter introducing yourself or your area to your swap partners. This is really great for kids, both to write about where they’re from or what makes them “them” & also to READ about other kids from all over. If your kids are interested in being penpals, put it in the letter! If you blog, put the URL in the letter so we can visit you!
Do we have to send valentines to individual children?
No, it’s not required. Some families have really enjoyed doing so in the past, but everyone always loves a family card. Please don’t burden your kids with more than they will enjoy!
Do we have to send hand-made cards?
No, but I encourage it. The kids really take a sense of pride in it. If time or circumstances don’t allow, I still want you to participate & have fun! Let your kids pour themselves into it! Heck, pour yourself into it. I’ll use any excuse to get my hands on some glitter!
Can we include other items?
Sure, but it is NOT required. Some families LOVE this part of the exchange, some don’t. I’ve never in 3 years heard one complaint about someone not sending extra goodies. NOT ONCE.
Can we send you, our lovely & dedicated host, valentines, or a new car, or raccoon pelts we brain-tanned ourselves?
Who am I to stop you?
(please, no pelts)
If you want to send us a valentine, or the letter about your family or area that you included in your valentines, email me & I’ll email you back our address. (really, no pelts.) I would really like to post pictures of the different valentines from around the country that have been sent, but again, this is not required.
Why on earth are there so many people from WA on my list?
I only have a partial answer for this. I am from Washington and am a member of two local homeschoolers web groups. But that doesn’t explain the fact that over 35% of our families who signed up were from Washington, especially the ones not in my area. Maybe Washington homeschoolers just really like valentines?
Please leave a comment here if you have a question that you think other families will ask. Email me if it’s something with personal information that you don’t want to share here.
Thank you guys & let the games begin!
